As an addition to their line of silicone-capped LEDs with segment-leading precise color and intensity control, Japanese manufacturer Asahi Rubber has created a modified version expanding the directivity angle from the standard roughly 120° to a much wider 200°/156° (x/y axis).
Available for the Nichia 146A series, the wide angle cap exhibits no appreciable loss in flux from Asahi Rubber’s standard cap and the same freely customizable binning. The new wide directivity output can enable new module geometries with more consistent graphic backlighting in compact form-factors.
