Modular Lighting Instruments Launches Extension Accessories (UPDATED)

Dec. 30, 2020
New Driver Extensions and Diffusers Expand Dimming and Light Leveling Capabilities.

Altoona, PA December 2020 — Belgian lighting manufacturer Modular Lighting Instruments — by MLI NA Corporation is excited to announce the launch of two accessory categories that will expand the capabilities of its North American offerings. The company’s Smart 3.2 fixtures are now available with LED drivers from Lutron Electronics – the leader in smart, scalable lighting control solutions. Additionally the brand has released new optical diffusers for its Duell, Trapz and Split fixtures.

Lutron Electronics LED Drivers for Smart 3.2

LED drivers from Lutron Electronics elevate Modular Lighting Instruments’ lighting capabilities by allowing a near-infinite mode of lighting expressions, including high-performance dimming. Modular Lighting Instruments offers two types of Lutron drivers: Hi-lume 1% 2-wire, a high-performance LED driver that provides smooth, continuous, flicker free dimming to 1%; and Hi-lume 1% EcoSystem LED Driver with digital control for LEDs, which provides addressing of individual fixtures and status feedback from the LED drivers. Fit for a wide range of applications including high-end residential, hospitality, retail, and commercial interiors, Smart 3.2 can be specified for both insulated contact (IC) and non-IC housing options.

Modular Lighting Instruments has partnered with Lutron in the past as part of Lutron’s OEM Advantage Program, which is designed to help manufacturers increase the specifications of luminaires embedded with Lutron technology. In December 2019, Modular Lighting Instruments’ Smart 1.9 recessed fixture became available with Lutron drivers. In March 2020, the Smart 4.5 also became available Lutron drivers.

Diffusers for Duell, Trapz, and Split Fixtures

The new diffusers offered in the brand’s Duell, Trapz, and Split fixtures enhance the functionality of each fixture by softening and leveling the light emitted, ultimately providing a blended glow creating a more seamless design than ever before. Launched in 2015, Duell, Trapz and Split wall-mounted fixtures are all equipped with both a downlight and an uplight to provide uniform illumination in both directions. Each fixture provides distinguished offerings:

Duell: With a name that originates from the idea of a duel between two colors, Duell is composed of two flattened cylindrical shapes that blend into any wall or ceiling. Duell is available in two options: Duell Surface and Duell Wall, which offers the diffusers. The duo-toned luminaires allow users to play with color, with contrasting finishes on their exteriors and interiors.

Trapz: Inspired by a trapezium shape, Trapz features indirect lighting and subtle shadows. The flattened cylinder is complete with two oblique openings, which shows off the contrasting interior of the luminaire creating a notable chiaroscuro effect.

Split: The wall-mounted uplight and downlight consists of a single folded plate with a fine slit from which the light radiates. Split's asymmetrical design makes it ideal for areas that would benefit from atmospheric lighting, such as living rooms, bedrooms or hallways.

Modular Lighting Instruments continues to grow its North American offerings, releasing award-winning luminaires and systems that stand the test of time and satisfy the need for high-quality, minimalist light fixtures that are certified for the market.
